The Voices of Women Museum holds in trust the memories of women in close to 3000 embroidered cloths and recorded personal stories gathered from South African provinces. They represent a number of indigenous languages and are translated into English. The museum focuses on the memory retrieval of women and is made tangible through the production of embroidered and appliqued works of art and personal narrative. Samples of these can be viewed in the Archive. The substantial Archive is nuanced for research, educational and record purposes and it provides opportunity for educators, interns and scholars. Selected works from the Amazwi Abesifazane Collection will be exhibited in key and curated exhibitions with other events taking place annually.
